Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
